This renovation of a modest 1940s bungalow was an exercise in restraint. Subtle modifications within the existing compact footprint included the removal of a wasteful hallway. Careful space planning achieved a generous bathroom with double sized shower, larger kitchen, and separate laundry. The smallest of extensions allowed for a separate dining nook with a direct flow to an alfresco deck, and an additional separate toilet.
Externally, the house remains honest to the original utilitarian typology, while the interior is now bright and contemporary. The builder achieved a Master Builder Gold Award for the project.
