This beach retreat is composed of three timber boxes, offset on a steep hillside. Social zone, guest wing and main bedroom suite are formed around a protected alfresco ‘cave’ with an outdoor fireplace.
The simplicity of form ensures a clear legibility to the architecture and is an expression of robustness in an exposed coastal environment. A dark exterior palette blends with the shadowy black and green tones of the bush.
The robust and utilitarian aesthetic continues inside with the black steel finish of the kitchen, shelving, and exposed firebox.
