Key original features were protected and restored. The interior detailing blends traditional panelled surfaces with European inspired textures. The volume of the original roof provided space for a master suite with dormers framing harbour views.
An open plan living pavilion was conceived as a light-filled extension ‘into and of’ the garden. The floor level of the extension was set down in response to the natural topography of the site, allowing the original house to be expressed as the dominant architectural form. The pavilion connects to a gabled garage at the rear of the site, with guest quarters hidden behind.
